PAST TENSE (VIDEO INSIDE)



PAST TENSE
The function of the simple tense are
1. To express that an action started and finished at the specific time in the past.
2. To describe a habit which stopped in the past to make it clear.
3. To describe past or generalizations which are to longer true.
The adverbs that are usually used in the simple past tense sentences are :



PATTERNS (using verbs)
(+)          SUBJECT + V2 + OBJECT + ADVERB OF TIME.
(-)           SUBJECT + DID + NOT + V1 + OBJECT + ADVERB OF TIME.
(?)          DID + SUBJECT + V2 + OBJECT + ADVERB OF TIME.

PATTERNS (using be)
(+)          SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + N/ADJ/ADV + ADVERB OF TIME.
(-)           SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + NOT + N/ADJ/ADV + ADVERB OF TIME.
(?)          WAS/WERE + SUBJECT + N/ADJ/ADV + ADVERB OF TIME + ?

Simple past tense is text use to indicate an event or an activity that happen or to do in the past.
